2026 Post-secondary Scholarship Application

Application Deadline: Nov. 13, 2026 

BIA Foundation of the RRV (formerly Home Builders Care of Fargo-Moorhead Foundation) is pleased to announce the availability of its annual scholarships to post-secondary (university and trade-school level) students interested in pursuing lucrative careers in the building trades.

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and priority will be given to applicants who are members of a National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter (or construction management society) during the 2026-2027 academic year. Throughout each individual’s academic career, each student is eligible to receive up to four awards from BIA Foundation of the RRV encompassing high school, technical schools and universities.

BIA Foundation of the RRV is affiliated with the Building Industry Association of the RRV.

Key Information

  • Scholarships will be recognized at the Jan. 28, 2027, New Year Celebration. Event details will be provided to all scholarship recipients. 
  • Scholarships will be awarded at a $500 minimum.
  • One or more awards may be issued. After the Scholarship Committee makes awards and winners have been notified, BIA Foundation sends amounts directly to the schools.
  • Be sure to carefully read the “Application Process” below.
  • It includes all required items and tips for submitting a competitive application. Applicants will be evaluated on presentation, format and completeness of application materials using a point-based system as described below.
  • Applications that do not contain all requested information will not be considered for scholarship awards.

Application Process

All scholarship applicants must complete the official scholarship application below. It is preferred, but not required that each applicant be a member of the National Association of Home Builders Student Chapter or construction management society at Minnesota State University Moorhead, North Dakota State University, Minnesota State Community and Technical College-Moorhead or North Dakota State College of Science-Wahpeton, where applicable.

Award Evaulation Guidelines

A scholarship evaluation committee consisting of BIA Foundation of the RRV board trustees, Building Industry Association of the RRV board of directors, members and staff will determine recipients of scholarship awards based on submitted information. Applicants will be evaluated using a point system based on the items listed below. Incomplete applications will not be considered for scholarship awards. 

  • Career objective (25 points)
  • NAHB Student Chapter (or construction management society) Involvement (20 points)
  • Community involvement/activities (15 points)
  • Volunteering with Building Industry Association of the RRV and BIA Foundation of the RRV (10 points)
  • Academic standing (10 points)
  • Resume (10 points)
  • Presentation of application (10 points)
